Harry

My brother in humor, grief, caring and trust. Brother from the Bronx. There is a palatable awareness of something shared, something missing, the reminder of the one gone. Yet Harry is here, the man that helped Richard thru his final transition.

Expecting the guest, accepting the invitation to experience the intimate mirror of family, youngest bother to Richard, uncle to our children and their families. How do we survive one another, ourselves, remain present and joyful, feel grateful, and off kilter.

We bump into one another's raw spots. I tell myself we 'need' this, we need one another, need to remember we were loved. Visiting is not like being drafted, but volunteering. Seems like the right thing to do till you realize what you've gotten yourself into. It's real. The bittersweet is alright.
