be strong

carry on

Life is always interesting, sometimes more so than others. Driving home from Crista's after a Sunday visit with the gang, I had my iPod plugged into the cassette listening to Eric Clapton's Unplugged album, Rich's favorite.

I have heard 'Tears In Heaven' many times before but didn't 'listen' to it since Rich died. The refrain: 'I must be strong and carry on, 'cause I know I don't belong here in heaven' sums up my first year experience, and occasionally even now. Where am I, and why? Because I was both with the living and the dead. Because we are connected.

"Tears In Heaven"
Would you know my name
If I saw you in heaven?
Would it be the same
If I saw you in heaven?

I must be strong
And carry on,
'Cause I know I don't belong
Here in heaven.

Would you hold my hand
If I saw you in heaven?
Would you help me stand
If I saw you in heaven?

I'll find my way
Through night and day,
'Cause I know I just can't stay
Here in heaven.

Time can bring you down,
Time can bend your knees.
Time can break your heart,
Have you begging please, begging please.

Beyond the door,
There's peace I'm sure,
And I know there'll be no more
Tears in heaven.

Would you know my name
If I saw you in heaven?
Would it be the same
If I saw you in heaven?

I must be strong
And carry on,
'Cause I know I don't belong
Here in heaven.

November 10th Meditation from"HEALING AFTER LOSS", which I read this afternoon.

For when is death not within ourselves?... Living and dead are the same, and so are awake and asleep, young and old.   ~ Heraclitus
